MY Story: From dependent to Liberated
I spent a decade trapped in a cycle of over-indulgence—pills, drinks, highs that dictated my every move. I told myself I was just having fun, but deep down, I knew I was spiraling. I knew it was killing me. But I didn’t know another way.
Maybe it’s something all young adults go through… but I don’t think so. I wasn’t just experimenting—I was reckless.
I drank an ungodly amount, pushing my body beyond its limits, numbing out whatever I didn’t want to feel. Then came Xanax. For six months, I took it religiously, knowing full well my body couldn’t keep up with it forever. When I finally forced myself to stop, I turned to cannabis—it felt safer, easier, more manageable. But I still built my entire life around being able to get high.
Then came acid, every other weekend, unlocking new experiences and ways of thinking. Eventually, I traded synthetics for mushrooms, believing they were the better option. And in many ways, they were. But I still wanted more. I didn’t just want to escape—I wanted to understand.
That search led me to herbalism. I wasn’t just looking for another way to get high. I was looking for a way to alter my state with intention, without wrecking myself in the process.
Over the years, I’ve rewritten the codes on altered states—through mindset work, plant medicine, and self-awareness. Now, I don’t rely on a handful of substances to get me where I want to go. I have a whole world of options, tools, and rituals that allow me to shift my consciousness intentionally rather than destructively.
I commend anyone who chooses full sobriety. But for me, it’s never been about abstinence—it’s been about honesty. About understanding my coping mechanisms, reclaiming control, and making empowered choices.
ALT/ered is the course I wish I had back then. It’s the roadmap to shifting your state without losing yourself in the process. It’s about stepping into a conscious relationship with altered states—so you can expand, explore, and experience bliss on your own terms.
Are you ready to take your power back?
